Prof. RNDr. Oldřich Jirsák, CSc.

Oldřich Jirsák was born on the 22. of June 1947 in Hradec Králové. After finishing Faculty of Science at Palacky University in Olomouc he obtained his RNDr. degree at the University of P. J. Šafárik in Košice and his CSc. degree at the Department of polymers of the Slovak academy of sciences in Bratislava. From 1979 he worked as a researcher at the Technical University in Liberec, where he first became Associate Professor in 1990 and in 2002 he was appointed a Professor at the Faculty of Nonwovens and Nanofibrous Materials. Between years 2003 and 2010 he was also appointed as a Prorector for international relations, science and research. He was awarded many awards, for example Česká hlava in category Inovations (2006), The medal of Merit awarded by the president of Czech Republic (2008). In 2010 he also received the Gold medal of rector of the Technical University in Liberec. He is an author of more the 100 scientific publications and lectures worldwide, an author of more then 50 invention patents in the field of fibres, nanofibrous materials and nonwoven textiles.
