Doc. MUDr. et MUDr. René Foltán, Ph.D., FEBOMFS

He graduated at the Faculty of dentistry at Charles University in Hradec Králové in 1993, and then also Faculty of general Medicine at the same university in 1998. He has been involved in the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1995. He went through many professional internships both domestically and abroad, especially at the Department of cranio-maxillofacial surgery at the University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland and at the department of Oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, England. In 2006 also he successfully completed the International Professional specialization exam (European Association of Cranio-Maxillo-facial Surgery title: Fellow of the European Board of Oro-maxillofacial Surgery). He is also significantly engaged in research, he received and successfully completed research grants for Ministry of Health and has published many research papers in leading international journals and is an author of chapters in textbooks. He also lectures extensively in the Czech Republic and wordlwide. Dr. Foltan actively participates in undergraduate teaching of dentistry and general medicine at the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He is also involved in postgraduate teaching in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery within the Charles University and the Institute for Further Education of Physicians and Pharmacists. In 2006 he defended his Ph.D., in 2011 he was habilitated assosiate professor and from 2014 he is the Head of the Dental Clinic of the 1st Medical Faculty, Charles University. Since 2016 is also the president of the Czech Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery ČLS JEP.
