Ladies and gentleman, dear colleagues and friends,

I consider a great privilage to invite you to participate in this year XVI. Congress of the Czech Orthodontic Society, which is to be held in Hradec Králové, the city on the junction of the Labe and Orlice rivers, the Czech queens dowry town, the city of the famous architects Gočár and Kotěra.

This year the congress is going to be held between October 15 and 17, 2015, which is not such traditional time, but, hopefully, you will be looking forward to our meeting after summer all the more.

The congress will take place in the Nové Adalbertinum hotel building that used to serve as Jesuit college. The building is to be found in the very centre of the city in Velké Square next to the City Hall and in the proximity of newly renovated White Tower which has towered above the city with its 72 metres since 1509.

3D imaging is one of the main congress topics. Particularly the congress course delivered by Dr. Axel Bumann, an eminent expert in this area of orthodontics will be focused on practical usage of Cone beam CT. The topic will be extended by another prominent lecturer Dr. Alberto M. Caprioglio with further CBCT usage opportunities.

Orthodontics and orthodontic surgery difficulties are other main topics. The key-note lectures given by the excellent speakers Dr. René Foltán and Dr. Meikel Vesper will lead us through the orthodontic surgery difficulties and they will confront some of these cases as well. Dr. Ivo Marek and Dr. Fredrik Bergstrand are going to mention possible undesirable difficulties during the orthodontic treatment and introduce their possible solutions. That goes without saying, there are other interesting lectures on agenda as well. The lecture in honour of Bedřich Neumann will this time be given by MUDr. Marie Štefková, CSc., It gives me great pleasure that she will be rewarded the Honorary membership of the Czech Orthodontic Society in Hradec Králové precisely, due to her family background.

As every year, besides professional agenda for the doctors, there will be photography and photography management workshop for the orthodontic assistants on one day and a lot of interesting information on first aid and resuscitation, backache, the prevention of back pains and how to be released from them during the second day. The assistants may refresh their jaws anatomy knowledge, make themselves familiar with CBCT scanning, among others. One-day workshop in orthodontic soldering is targeted at dental technicians.

We are pleased to be able to invite you to the evening President´s reception in the historical building of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia, where you can enjoy the architecture of Jan Kotěra or see the interesting collections. Due to the fact that the spirit of the First Republic times will impact the social programme this year, we would be glad if you could dress stylishly. For those who are interested, the night tour of the Art Nouveau hydroelectric power plant Hučák will be available.

Hoping and believing you will find out this year´s congress programme interesting, you will be leaving Hradec Králové with nice recollections.
