Václav Bednář
Dr. Václav Bednář graduated from stomatology at the Medical Fac-
ulty of Palacky University in Olomouc in 1965. He started his career
of a dental surgeon in the Regional Health Institute in Ostrava. After
postgradual study programme in dental medicine he started to work
under the Head MUDr. Bedřich Neumann in the ? eld of orthodontics,
and in 1973 he became the regional senior consultant in orthodontics. Since 1973 he had been the Council Member of the orthodontic
section of the Czech Stomatological Society J.E. Purkyně, and in 1986
became its President. Between 1980 and 1990 he worked as the
Council Member of the Czech Stomatological Society J.E. Purkyně and
later became the President of the Czech Orthodontic Society. In 2004
he resigned from this demanding and time consuming position.
Dr. Bednář is a helpful, friendly and extraordinarily dilligent colleague
who is well acquainted with the problems of a private orthodontic practice. He contributed signi? cantly to the development of orthodontics in
our country. He has always been very active and helpful in training of
young colleagues. His knowledge and expertise is a valuable part of
a postrgraduate study programme at the Medical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc. Apart from lecturing in the Czech Republic, Dr. Bednář
also teaches in Poland at Vyšší škola dentystycznej inženyrii in Ustoň.
Dr. Bednář also worked in the Czech Dental Chamber – for 11 years he
was the president of Honorary Council. In 2009 he gained the Czech
Dental Medicine Award, and in 2011 Acknowledgments for his contribution and work for the Czech Dental Chamber. Amongst his interests
we can find Alpine Rescue Service, cycling and skiing.
