Luhačovice

Luhačovice is located on the south-eastern Moravia in Zlín Region, 16 km southeast of the city of Zlín. Laying on the river Šťávnice it makes the centre of the Luhačovice Forest Land, the speci?c ethnographic area in Wallachia. Currently, Luhacovice has over 5 000 inhabitants. Luhačovice is primarily a spa town, because there is a fourth largest spa in the Czech Republic and the largest in Moravia. Luhačovice owes its fame mainly to mineral springs – there are six natural springs and dozens of drilled sources. The most famous spring is called Vincentka.

The emergence of the spa is credited to Serényi noble family. In the late 18th century Earl Vincent ordered to build the first treatment and accommodation facilities. In the first half of the 19th century the spas began to widen by Earl John Serényi, who had named all the known healing water springs by the first names of the members of his family. The spa saw a great prosperity after the foundation in 1902 of the joint stock company Luhačovice, headed by MD. Frantisek Vesely. In Luhačovice Spa people receive treatment against respiratory and digestive diseases, and obesity. Luhačovice is known for its unique architecture, particularly due to the houses of the famous architect Dusan Jurkovic (Jurkovičův dům, Chaloupka, Jestřábí, Hudební pavilon, Sluneční lázně, vila Vlastimila). The architectural form of Luhačovice was also contributed by other outstanding architects – Emil Králík, Oscar Poříska and, above all, the unforgettable mark was left behind by Bohuslav Fuchs, one of the internationally recognized architects.

Luhačovice can satisfy the culturally and socially-oriented visitors. Music and culture are as typical of Luhačovice as medicinal springs. You can choose from a variety of festivals held every year. Visitors can also enjoy a great number of cafes, wine bars, restaurants and pastry stores and, of course an accommodation. Many famous artists and personalities sought and still seek inspiration in Luhačovice. Perhaps the most famous visitor of this site was Leos Janacek, who was not only seeking for health in the spa and the surrounding countryside, but also for inspiration and an ultimate relief from a dif? cult live situation. We believe that the Congress in COS Luhačovice will be an inspiration for you and a pleasant experience of staying in this picturesque town of Wallachia area
