PhDr. Jana Severová, CSc.

Jana Severová was born on 23 January 1947 in Brno. She completed her studies at a grammar school at Slovanské nám. 7 in 1965 by passing the leaving examination and in the same year started her psychology studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk University in Brno (the former J. E. Purkyně University). In 1970 she completed her studies there by the state examination. Already during her studies she started working at an Infant Institute in Brno and stayed there until 1977. She then worked at the Psychology Department of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Brno until 1988. In 1981 she passed a doctoral exam and obtained the “PhDr.” title. In 1987 she defended her dissertation thesis entitled “Value orientation of teenagers” and was awarded the “CSc.” title.

During the 1990s Jana Severová worked at various institutions and in 1995 she joined the First Children’s Internal and Oncology Clinic of St. Anna’s University Hospital in Brno. Back in 2003 the clinic was moved to a Children’s Hospital. She stayed there until 2004 when due to organisational changes she was moved to the Child Psychiatry and Psychology Department of a Children’s Clinic at the Brno University Hospital. Currently she works as expert assistant at the Psychology and Psychosomatics Institute at the Medical Faculty of the Masaryk University in Brno.

The main areas of her professional interest include developmental psychology, psychological diagnostics, psychosomatic problems, oncology patients, eating disorders, tic disorders and obesity therapy.
